One of the most confusing sections in nursing school is the endocrine system.   It can be confusing trying to keep all the different hormones and diseases straight.  One thing that helped me with this was making charts of the various hormones, where they were stored, where they acted, and what action they have within the body.   Once you start to piece together the endocrine puzzle, many other functions within the body start to make sense. . . .   In my work on the floor it was common to need a good understanding of the endocrine system as many of the patients, after neurosurgery, required steroid therapy (steroids mimic the actions of the naturally occurring adrenal gland hormones)!   Today's cheatsheet covers DKA vs HHNS . . . it's gonna look a bit confusing at first but I PROMISE it will make perfect sense with some time.Â
